How does it work?

At Ecowheels, we made it our mission to empower people to offset their vehicle emissions, enabling them to play their critical role in the fight against climate change.

Understanding carbon offsetting can be tricky, so below we’ve explained the process that Ecowheels goes through to offset your vehicle.

Driving for change

In Australia, driving vehicles can be an inevitability. It isn’t always possible to reach your desired destination with public transport or by bike. The problem is that driving vehicles also releases carbon dioxide into the atmosphere, contributing to climate change. So, how do we limit the impact that our vehicles are having on the environment?

To compensate for a vehicle’s emissions, Ecowheels uses carbon credits to offset the carbon dioxide produced by vehicles. Carbon credits can be a bit confusing, so we’ll go into more detail below.

What’s a carbon credit?

One carbon credit represents a reduction, avoidance or removal of one tonne of carbon dioxide or its carbon dioxide-equivalent.

It’s all quite technical, but try to think of it like turning off the lights in your house to balance out the energy you use for charging your phone. Just as conserving energy helps reduce your carbon footprint, offsetting helps balance out the carbon emissions your vehicle generates.

Carbon credits support projects that remove, reduce or avoid carbon emissions elsewhere, like planting trees or using renewable energy.

Drive green, drive clean

When you purchase an offset through Ecowheels, you’ll be able to drive with a clear conscious, knowing that your vehicle’s carbon footprint has been offset for that given year.

Each Ecowheels customer will also receive a bumper sticker for their vehicle, to show that you're helping to drive change for a cleaner future!
